Power Quality Management in Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems Using Neural Network based Control Schemes

This work presents an advanced approach for power quality management in grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems using a neural network-based control scheme. The proposed system integrates PV arrays, battery storage, and DC–DC converters with an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) controller to ensure stable and efficient power delivery to the grid. The ANN intelligently manages voltage regulation, harmonic mitigation, and load balancing under varying solar irradiance and load conditions. Simulation studies in MATLAB/Simulink demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a substantial reduction in Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) from 0.95% in previous work to 0.19%, along with enhanced grid capacity and source utilization. This research highlights the potential of ANN-based controllers in improving the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of renewable energy integration into modern power grids.
