A Diode and MOSFET based Fault Detection Method for Photovoltaic Cable
This paper presents a review of a diode and MOSFET-based fault detection method for photovoltaic (PV) cables, aimed at improving system reliability and safety. As solar power systems expand globally, ensuring continuous and fault-free operation becomes increasingly vital. Traditional fault detection approaches often lack the responsiveness and cost-efficiency required for real-time applications. By integrating diodes and MOSFETs within PV cable monitoring circuits, it is possible to detect abnormal behaviors such as open-circuit, short-circuit, reverse polarity, and ground faults effectively. The proposed approach leverages the directional properties of diodes and the switching capabilities of MOSFETs to identify anomalies based on current flow patterns and voltage drops. This method enables compact, fast, and low-power diagnostic mechanisms that are particularly suitable for distributed PV architectures.
